Medial post helps control pronation:- Pronation is when your foot rolls inwards upon impact with the ground. Some pronation is normal because it helps to alleviate the stress of the impact, but over rolling inwards (over pronation) can stress the lower limbs. The medial (arch) support has increased density, to help stop your foot from over-rolling inwards. It encourages a more neutral gait.
